Awol

Would be fairly simple to put a leash on her leg band but I'd like her to be able to roam the yard with the rest of her friends ideally. I wonder if you can hobble chickens? If I just tied her legs together so she can walk but not get enough of a run to take off? Or I guess I could attach a small weight to one of her legs. That might throw her off enough to not be able to take off.

She didn't have a nest or eggs... not that we could find anyway. She's only laid one egg in the 6 weeks that we've had her. She's 2 years old.

I would tether her butt to the coop. Just take a long leather strap or dog leash, hook it to her leg band and the other end to the coop. I would be afraid to hobble one for very long because lord only knows what kind of trouble she could get into or what she could caught up on. Bad girl bad bad bad.

haha, we had a rhode island red who went "rogue" for a while. finally found her nest hidden deep under our pine trees...no access without cutting half the branches back. For a while she refused to go in the coop at night. She would sit on our back wall at night under the watchful eye of our cat (who chases the chickens for fun, but never hurts them). She has since safely settled back in the flock...weird.

I dont know for sure but i would think a lightweight nylon string or rope with a slip knot would work quite well as long as it isnt near something to tangle on.
