Ayam cemani chicks

I would be proud of that one. The mulberry is not too bad while the comb and everything else is perfect.... to my eye. It's a shame he had a bad day.
He is nice looking, yes, but quite the jerk. He mated the ladies without their permission (they ran, screamed, got feathers pulled out, & he chased until he got his way) and he flanked both myself and my children multiple times, before we called the breeder. Getting attacked by claws & wings is no fun and too dangerous for kids. Now our roosters (a silkie & a serama/Silkie mix) both dance for the ladies and ask permission before mating (no more running, yelling hens, no more feathers pulled out)… we even had surprise chicks because I didn’t even know they were mating yet (at 6 months old) because it was quiet & consensual, so unlike former roosters. Five months later, things are still quiet here and I’m sure the hens are happier! (& I look for hidden broodies daily😆) (I’m sure Shem the AC too is happy too. He’s with hundreds of chickens on a chicken farm instead of in the soup pot, which was my first thought of what to do after repeated attacks.)

Looking forward to seeing more photo updates if your beautiful birds, @Ylva! Sorry to take over the thread talking about my cockerel. Please let us know if you do indeed have all pullets and if they do lay for a while then take months off of laying at a time as I’ve heard.

These 2 are mine any help or thoughts

From what I can see, both look like pullets. There’s a lot of shadow cast on pics 1 & 3, but pic 2 definitely looks like a pullet. I don’t see wattles on any pic. The comb looks big in pic 3, but not nearly as big as my AC roo. How old are your birds?
11 to 12 weeks

This seems to be where the AC people are gathering. I bought AC eggs and incubated them. They hatched on May 29thso 4 weeks old and not even feathered in yet. I am thinking at least 3 roos in the 5 chick group. Their combs are growing really fast. Can I get some opinions please? I will post 1 pic of each chick.

I agree, looks like 3 roos & 2 pullets (#3 & #5). But I’m sure you know by know! Sorry, just saw this thread again. What did you end up with?

An update on the ACs in the first post: They were all killed by a fox in May 😔. It got into the barn through a broken window, in a part of the barn we don’t use (I wasn’t aware of the broken window). He killed 14 hens and half-grown chicks. I was so mad at myself about it AND heartbroken..

I got a new AC cockerel from a friend, and this weekend I am hatching some AC and AC mixes (one has hatched already). The hens are Marans mixes (one dominant white), Silverudds Blue and Kochin/Barnevelder. I plan on hatching AC/Silkie mixes next spring. Can’t wait to see how the mixes turn out 😊 I will post pictures of the new chicks later!

My new AC cockerel. 😍
