ayam cemani cross???

hi i am wondering if any one has crosed ayam cemani roosters with (blrw, buff orpinton, cochins, slw, welsummer,ee) thanks
Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

I have not... but you can cross whatever you like depending on your goals.
I don't have a link yet, but I know you can get predicted outcomes using a punnet square. It can show you things like which color or comb you will end up with. It's a lot of fun to play around with. Hopefully I find it or someone will post a link to one that's easy to use.

For me personally, I rather get pure breeds unless I'm working on a specific project. I consider barn yard mix to be of slightly less value. But having fun IS the reason I raise chickens! :wee

I have learned so much genetic stuff since starting to breed chickens, I just wish they could have made me relate to it back in school. It really is interesting. :old

You can, but you'll get mixed breed offspring that probably won't look much like either parent and probably won't be desirable for potential buyers. Could be fun just to see what the mixes look like, but from an economic and production standpoint you will lose ground compared to pure breeds.

Personally I would only breed Ayam Cemani pure. Such a lovely, distinictve breed shouldn't(in my opinion) be bred for crosses.

I have an Ayam Cemani Welsummer cross. Her name is Chicken Dumpling. She's the largest hen we own. She just turned a year two days ago. But she out grew all my hens by six months
She literally looks like A jersey giant
