From my experience it can be between 24-28 days. It seems to depend on size of egg. I have had some hatch out on day 24 and had others hatch on day 28.
My batch that I just set had one egg pip on day 24 (yesterday) but the others look like they are just ready to go into lockdown.

First duckling of the year! It's a mallard outcross.

Broody mallard has three ducklings! There was a fourth, but I found it dead in the nest :(

She also had two more eggs that she kicked out, popped those in my incubator and will candle them to see if they're doing anything, since the other ducks were still laying eggs under her.

I am suspicious that they are now laying their eggs under my broody goose, sigh.

My Aztec Ducklings are a week and a half old now and I finally got a group picture (my apologies for the low quality cell phone pic). Incredibly friendly ducklings that enjoy human interaction. This was their first trip outdoors and the Blue Pearl quickly became obsessed with the grass. That made for a short trip since they haven't had grit yet, but they'll get some now 😳

I'll try to get new pictures soon but they're going through their awkward phase. They're half soft and fluffy down and half feathers. One of the Porcelain's seems to have a brighter golden brown chest than the muted brown chest on the others. I'm so excited for them to feather in. I'll get pictures soon

Do these ducks lay particularly large eggs for their size?
All our ducks stopped laying over a month ago and we've never had them start up again the same season, so when we found an egg yesterday I assumed it had just been hidden somewhere. Then we found another today.
We do have 2 aztec girls who are 4 months old though, one of them totally looking for some action lately... I'm wondering if she may have started laying. They don't look like first eggs, though. They're as big as I'm used to from our mature full size ducks.

Or, next crazy theory... could having the young ducks suddenly have their hormones kicking in affect the older ones? One of the big ducks has decided that she's a small duck. Maybe the eggs are hers?
