Well after supporting the local feed store for the last 3 years. I’ve purchased my layer feed, lawn and clover seed, lawn and garden fertilizer, vegetable seeds and electric fence materials. I wasn’t too happy this spring. I went in twice in February asking to have my name put on the list fir this years pullets both times they put me off saying come back in two weeks. Back in in March same story come back in two weeks back in the end of March come back later. Finally a week later sorry everything is sold!!!!!! Not happy and I told them so. Yes in a polite and courteous way.
Fast forward to yesterday a friend called and asked are you still interested in some pullets. He gave me a number to call. I had no intention of getting new pullets this late in the year but I thought I’d call and reserve for next spring. Well the seller said the magic word he had brown egg layers and blue egg layers. I told him I’d be up to see him today.
Today I picked up 2 brown layer production hens. I think he called the Bavarian Browns. And 4 Azure Blue’s which from what I can find lay a blue or green egg. From what is see they seem to be a controlled Easter Egger. Seems like they can be sexed at birth. Time will tell. They seem very healthy. Right now they are on the grass for the first time. They have settled in so far and have only been here for 5 hours.
