Guessing it came from McMurray - as they have probably the BEST SGs of all the hatcheries :-) Well done!

I'm glad to hear that, because I did a desperate thing and ordered some from them just in case... 2 boys and 3 girls are in the growout pen... toes are iffy, but coloring looks ok so far.

I am actually thinking of ordering a slew of McMurry chicks myself, as I have a bunch of Heritage MEAT orders to fill :-) Ordering extras of course, so I can keep the GOOD ONES :-)

I agree on the "girl" call, based on both pictures. What does the Dorking Queen think? (aka Tigerlilly :-)

I do have a small hatchery here. The only other "hatchery" doesn't actually hatch their own... they order from the big hatcheries to fill orders... and they didn't get chicks this year due to financial difficulties. So, here I am... I've been hatching everything I can since January, and still working on orders and hatching for another month. I have no problems hatching RIRs, BRs, Sexlinks, etc... but my Dorkings seriously needed a shot in the arm, which hopefully they got with many thanks to Jen and Renee.

I hope it is a girl! I ordered the rainbow layer and ornamental layer assortments from mcmurray. Lots of cute cute babies! I also got one Salmon Faverolle (sp?) and one Blue Andalusian that I am excited about!
 
I don't know much about Dorkings. What color eggs do they lay and is there any special care advice anyone would like to give me??

Queen??? hehehehehehehe... too funny! Just a civil servant & Dorking Yenta.

Shelly, I give extra vitamins (B complex liquid) when they're small. But the Silver Greys are supposed to be the most hardy variety.

It's beautiful right now, too... 60°F, sunny, light breeze... everything is budding out and the lawn (term "lawn" used loosely here) is starting to turn more green than brown.
