She looks great!

The only thing bad is your desensitizing her to dogs. That will be bad when she gets in the wild.

Other than that she looks great! Beautiful baby.

I also know someone who bottle fed two one of each, both from the wild. They were 5 months old when someone call the DNR. They didnt charge this lady,because she just had them in a field with a 4 ft fence. They walk out and shot both in front of this lady.

I bottle-fed / hand raised 4 fawns (from Moms that were highway fatalities) when I was in my early teens and none ever hung around. If they did hang around, they were mostly hanging around with the cows and coming up with them.
Yes, I think it was completely illegal for me to have them and NO, I don't care.

No bumps at that age, yep just like a dog.

Dont know about your State Laws, but again a doe bottle fed is no danger. Will not starve if released. The danger is she will not be afraid of people, and someone will kill her during hunting season.

If you can find a place where no one hunts she would be ok.

A doe thats has been imprint is ok to release, and will be fine other than hunters. Dog if they have been raised with them.

You are right about the DNR if you call them out they will take her and most likely kill them.

I would of seriously punched the guy in the face right then and there if they did that to anyone's handraised animal. Its cruel, their cruel.

ur calm then!! i would have done A LOT worse than that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I probably shouldnt say on here but i have some ideas and i think itd definitely involve that gun and some feet and hands and well....you get it!

If you look at her rear end when her tail is up you should be able to tell if shes a female, the anus will be on top of the vulva. Sorry for the minor anatomy lesson, but if you want to know for sure.
Or if you don't want to look, if it squats down to pee, its a girl. If it stretches out to pee its a male.

EM..i know nothing about this stuff hun, but i'd say that if you are really going to release her/him you need to not bond with her anymore..just go in to feed and thats it...so she/he has a better chance of survival in the wild...i think..maybe i'm wrong though..

They ask the lady if they were hers, she said no, because she knew it was illegal. She didnt have them penned. So they could not charge her. DNR can and will kill deer, if they feel the need. They are the police over all wildlife matters , really have more power than police. They have the power to come on your land anytime they want, check for traps,wildlife, and etc.

I understand laws are here for a reason but killing them is very cruel. there should be a 3rd option. Like a simple lisence with a hefty fee so that those who really want to do it and will care for them can.
