Babies 6 weeks old! So much fun...and my newbie random chicken thoughts.

Hey I see you're in NC too! It's been so cold this past week or two. I haven't slept mine without a bulb on yet. Wonder how warm it should be before I do that? I can't seem to find 2 people with the same opinion. Going to be a bit warmer this week though. Maybe I'll get brave and try it one night.

Our temps last week were chilly in low 30s, but last night was the first night of about 10 nights with the temps in the 50s & 60s at night, so we decided to give it a try. We do have 2 of our 8 that are about a week younger than the rest and they are smaller too. Truthfully, I was tired of their brooder box taking up most of our space in an outbuilding.

Dumb question...by chicken scraps you mean leftover cooked chicken? That won't lead to cannibalism?

I'll have to try the cheese. Imported or domestic?

As long as the chicken is cooked they have no idea. if you gave them a dead chicken to eat, that would be another story.
