My third hatch is due on Saturday! I'm so excited. I'm not very hopeful that many will hatch. I candled them last night and 5 out of 14 have obvious life in them. Some are too dark to see into and some are poor looking. (blood rings, clear, etc.) They are silver laced Wyandottes. I knew the hatch rate would be poor, because (they are from my Grandmothers chickens) she only has one hen to collect from so some of the eggs are old. Anyways, I'm so excited to watch chickies hatch again! Is anyone else waiting (not so) patiently for babies?

My 2 hatches are 2 weeks and one week old already, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Keep us posted.

They grow so fast, don't they? I'm so impatient for my babies. I've missed hatching so much. (It's been like 3 months since my last hatch. =P I'm addicted.)

I put them into lockdown at noon today. I re-candled the ones I labeled as bad, decided that they really weren't going to hatch and discarded them. The 5 that made it to lockdown are nestled in their warm little "nest" waiting to come meet me. :) I can't wait for Saturday!

Keep us posted. I've stopped hatching for the time being, so I'll get my chick fix here from now on! I just love hatching chicks. It's so exiting seeing what they look like. We have a little-bit-of-everything chickens, so we never know what we're going to get!

Aw, why have you quit hatching? Do you have "enough" chickens already? (As do I. but I love hatching sooo much...)

I'll post as soon as something cool happens. Right now they just look like eggs. =P

We are in the process of selling our farm and we're emigrating. So in about 2 month's time I'll have to sell my entire flock. And we have a lot of chickens! Not looking forward to that...
But at least I can come here for my chick fixes while we're getting settled.

Ohhh. Well good luck selling all those birdies! I wish I could buy them, but I'm sure my dad is glad I can't. =P

I have quite a few interested buyers already. We battle to get chickens for sale round here and if you do they are very expensive. So any chickens for sale usually go quick! Especially hens.

I hope hatch day is going well... This is my first post on here. First ever hatch (since I was a child) is incubating now. I too am awaiting some SLW!! on turning them this morning I found an egg "weeping" - it had been one of my hopefuls, I candled it and it didnt look promising so I took it out just in case.

I hope you get a couple of good ones! I only have room for a few chooks but am a bit disappointed with my numbers so far... when I candled them quite a few looked clear and rather porous (at least that isnt my doing!!)
Good luck
