Babies due Saturday! :D

I hope hatch day is going well... This is my first post on here. First ever hatch (since I was a child) is incubating now. I too am awaiting some SLW!! on turning them this morning I found an egg "weeping" - it had been one of my hopefuls, I candled it and it didnt look promising so I took it out just in case.

I hope you get a couple of good ones! I only have room for a few chooks but am a bit disappointed with my numbers so far... when I candled them quite a few looked clear and rather porous (at least that isnt my doing!!)
Good luck
Thanks and welcome to BYC! :) I hope you have a good hatch. I love hatching. <3

I have at least 1 internal pip so far. I've heard a tiny bit of peeping but not much. I heard someone rocking, but I couldn't tell who. Now that I have (an) internal pip(s) I should be getting some external pips soon! I'm so excited! I'm having the hardest time keeping my paws off the incubator. I keep having to distract myself. I've cleaned out and around the coop, and worked for 2 hours in the garden. Yesterday I prepared the brooder and posted signs around it saying nobody was allowed to touch the babies without asking first. Our older chickens have fowl pox so I'm trying reeally hard to make sure they don't catch it until they are old enough to handle it. I'm running out of things to do. I keep going in the hall closet (where the incubator is) and weighing the pros and cons of opening the incubator. But I must leave the eggs alone! I must be strong!

Or so I keep telling myself. =P I'm used to hearing peeping as soon as i get up in the morning and having pips within hours or less. That's how it's happened with both previous hatches. But I set these eggs in the morning, not at night like i did my first 2 hatches. I'm trying to be patient! I really am...

I have 1 external pip!

Gosh, this process is taking FOREVER compared to my last hatches. I'm so happy that one of them has decided to start trying to escape! I want to hold him!

That's a chick...

Hope the hatch goes well and you get lots of fluffy butts.

He hasn't done anything else. :\ I helped him a little, and he's still trying, but he's not making much progress. I usually try hard not to help, but with only 5 making it to lockdown, I'm a little more willing to give 'em a boost. There is one more pip and he seems to be making progress on his own. I can hear someone else pecking at the shell, but he hasn't broken it yet.

Thanks for that link. I'm kinda worried because he's slowing down and acting tired. I know it can take awhile, but with only 2 actively trying to get out and it being day 22, it's a little more intense. I candled the 3 that haven't done anything and I'm not very hopeful for them. 1 has obviously pipped the air cell, but he's not moving at all and there are weird dots and congealed places that there shouldn't be. The other 2 don't look like they have pipped the air cell and I can see no movement whatsoever. I'm afraid of only 1 hatching. :\ I have more due next weekend, so it would only be alone for 1 week, but still...
