Babies due Saturday! :D

Yep, I have 2 beautiful Silver Laced Wyandotte babies. :)
This is the guy who has trouble hatching. He is quite opinionated. His feet are very soft. Too soft. I think he'll be like a preemie baby and just need to toughen up some.I'm going to put some rubber shelf liner in the brooder for him to walk on if his feet get sore.

This is the first one to hatch. He's simply gorgeous. :) I thought at first his foot was curled, but it looks perfect. :)

They were both sleeping in my arms. Now they are having an argument... They are the loudest chicks I've ever had.

they're absolutely adorable!! congratulations!!

Enjoy your babies!

The second guy (who I've nicknamed Loki, and his (hopefully her) brother/sister is nicknamed Thor, just because I thought it was funny. =P) refuses to walk when he doesn't have to. His legs aren't very strong and his feet, like I said, are really soft. I know chick feet are softer then chicken feet, but his feet (and legs, actually) are abnormally soft. I've mixed him up some electrolytes/vitamins, Vitamin E, banana and softened chick feed to dropper feed him. (So that I can ensure he's getting the amount of nutrients he needs.) I think if I can get him to walk enough, he can build up strength in his legs. He can get around, but mostly he just lays down and screeches.

Just caught up with posts. Congratulations!!

Hope the lil one keeps going for you! ive been so busy hoping mine through to hatching... its brought my mind back to the prospect of defomrities/not quite cooked chicks etc!

I was going to candle mine 2night but its got a bit late.
Maybe his soft legs was the only reason he had trouble getting out, postiioning himself for pip and zip etc!!

As this will be my first hatch I will try not to over analyze/panic!

Good luck for next day or so...

Don't let my hatch stress you out. This was a really horrible hatch for some reason. I have no idea why. I have had really good hatch rates in the past. My first was 60% and my second was 61%. I knew this one would be poor because of the circumstances, but I didn't expect it to be this poor. I'm getting a better thermometer before my next hatch.
I hope you have a good hatch. :) Babies are so much fun. I'm enjoying mine so much. Actually watching them hatch is my favorite part of chicken raising, period.

I have some more, totally unrelated news. My bantam hen is missing. She is totally gone. I haven't seen her all day. I don't see any evidence of an attack or anything, no other chickens are missing. It's possible that a hawk got her, but you would think the other chickens would act at least a little nervous if that were the case. I'm thinking she's on a nest somewhere. I've searched for her, but there are a lot of hiding places around here. I've written on my calendar, 21 days from now to watch for her. I haven't found any of her eggs for a couple weeks now, so it wouldn't surprise me if she's laid herself a clutch and is setting. I hope she turns up with a line of babies trailing her. :)

i'm sorry about your hen! but that would be so much fun to have her return with babies! i hope thats the case and i think your right about the other hens being freaked out if your bantam was taken by a hawk..

I hope you're right and your hen comes back with babies.
