Babies due Saturday! :D

I'm glad she's o.k. Hope you don't get too many chicks

How are the babies doing?

Yeah, I would rather have too many babies than none any day, so I'm not too worried. :)

Loki is doing very well. I went to spend the night with my friend last night and took them with me. Their dog wanted to eat them very bad, so I put their tote in a dog crate so she couldn't get to them. It was really amusing watching her try to figure out how to get to them. I took them out to walk around (with Mojo, the dog, locked out of the room, of course.) They were running around, chasing my hands when I would tap my fingers on the floor. It was really funny. Loki still isn't very steady on his feet, but he can walk and run and doesn't sit on his hocks very much anymore. He still slips a lot when he tries to run, though. He's doing much better. I'm very happy with the progress he's making. :D I have a lot of people over right now, but if I can find time to take a picture, I will.

I'm glad things turned out well for you.

I used to raise chicks myself and tap my fingers like that, on the floor. Then my DH started making a clicking sound or sometimes a kissy sound when he did that. When the chicks came they'd get a treat. My one, a roo, was full grown and he still came running when we made that sound. We used to do it when we had people round. I loved seeing their expressions when we called the roo and he came running!
Cant wait to see more pics!

Yay! Glad everything is working out!

I just set my eggs this afternoon ladies! I'm a complete nervous wreck already and we're only 2 hours in! I keep running in to check the humidity and temperature! Oh geez, how am I going to sleep tonight!

Madi: I'll go take a pic as soon as I post this. They are so cute. They got to spend their day in chicken tractor, with like grass and stuff. ;) They are loving it.

Sumi: That's so sweet! I don't have any really tame older birds. I lose interest in them when they go through their "dinosaur" stage. Which is kinda good, because we eat the roosters, so if I get attached to them, that could be tragic. I would love to have a pet chicken though. :)

WRV: Yay! It'll settle down. I did that my first hatch as well, told myself if I woke up in the middle of the night I would get up and check the incubator. I did wake up, but it was winter and COLD. I didn't get up. =P You'll probably just notice one day that you aren't checking on it very often. I know you'll love it. ;)

Soooo.. Loki is doing really, really well. I'm very happy. :) He ran around in the grass all day today. A couple times I came out to check on them and Thor was laying down while Loki ran around him. It was really adorable.

I have some kinda neat news. I was attempting to find my bantams nest again today and decided to walk all the way to the back of our property. We have some pine trees back there that blue jays nest in. I came across a dead baby bird that was being eaten by ants. It wasn't really new. It happens quite often up there. I have to watch my puppy when I let her go up there so she won't eat them. (I'm not sure why it happens so often, but it does.) Well, a few feet away I found this guy:

This doesn't happen often. We have lots of very hungry fire ants around here. They gobble up anything they can get their (ant eaty things... what are those called again? 0.o) Pincers! That's it! around. He had some ants on him, but was still alive. I figured Mama obviously didn't mind watching her other baby get eaten, she wouldn't mind watching him either. I'm guessing she pushed him, because he has curled feet. I picked him up, wiped off the ants and brought him back down to the house. I'm feeding moistened puppy food right now. I have no idea if he'll make it, but I'll have a pet blue jay if he does! :D I'm trying to think of a name for him... Any suggestions?

Loki on the log. He's sitting in this one, but right after I snapped the pic he jumped off and ran around.

Thor on the left and Loki on the right. They've been playing all day. :)
