I'm curious... in the second picture it looks like they have a cd? What is that?

It is a CD. It would keep them busy for hours at a time. I have a video of it on here but Ill just post the link for you.

I never get to see how they act while I am not around unless I view the cam.

I didn't know they'd roost by a week old! Wow I'm so new at this. I guess my girl would like a roost, too-- worth a try I guess but I'm not sure how I'm going to make one-- they're in a heavy plastic bin.

Every chick is different some of my ones that are just over a week old have no clue how to get up to it and the ones I picked up from TSC on Wednesday (black ones) they already love it and jump to it whenever they want. But then they get pecked and looked at weird by the yellow ones because they want to get up there too.

If you only have the bin for chicks then you can put holes on the sides and slide in something for them to roost on. I have some steaks from my garden that I am using.

That cd video is super cute! It's the same thing my hens do to the rims of my husbands truck when he pulls up in the back yard:lau I told my husband I thought they were trying to put themselves into pecking order... but now, after seeing your video, I wonder if they think there is another dimension with another chicken that they might be able to hop into. I'm gonna go put a cd in my brooder and see what my chicks do. Thanks for the idea!
