Really, though, I didn't know what I was getting myself into with these kids. They're hilarious and they always look like they're smiling. Even if they imprint on you, they don't like being picked up.
I incubated duck eggs for a friend and I'm brooding them for the first 2-3 weeks and I'm already so attached to these little turd rockets. I hatched out six and one hadn't fully absorbed the yolk and that one died. The other five were a staggered hatch (do not recommend a staggered hatch with ducks, they do not do well as solitary animals) and they have all been fast friends. I have two Pekin duck eggs left that were two weeks behind the rest (resetting an incubator when you still have eggs going is NOT FUN and neither is turning eggs during lockdown) and are full term come Wednesday.
Anyway, these are my duckies. Until such a time as they move out and I will miss their messy selves a lot.
