I'm hoping this is what will happen. It's pretty obvious Pepper is going to be in charge, I'm just interested to see how things shake out in the end.

Females can have tifts but they usually don't last long. Is your friend going about integration in the right way with separated fencing so they can get to know each other?

Not really per se, he says they kinda keep segregated on their own and he's always in the yard supervising them. The youngins still sleep indoors in a box. And the 2 older gals in a closed outdoor pen at night. So far though neither young duck has been hurt by the Welsh. It is good to know, Miss Lydia, that the tifts don't last long.

I think we fixed it! We're keeping a very close eye on it now that we've unwrapped her, and it looks like her wing is growing correctly now. The wingtip tucks underneath the rest of the wing instead of sticking out. She has a bunch of new feathers coming in, and you can tell that the wing is really heavy with the blood feathers, but it's holding up really well. I'm REALLY pleased at how well the wrapping worked, and how well she handled it.

Catching it early and wrapping is the key. Good for you. Today a BYC member came to our county to pick up 8 WH ducklings so she and hubby came by to actually meet in person and those ducklings were just adorable It's so nice to be able to meet a member in person since we're all scattered all over the world. Now I want some WH.
