ok so i heard from the hatchery... the birds will be shipped may 30th but hopefully if they are hatched in time they will be shipped on the 29th. If not then I will have to pick them up around 530pm on the Friday and take em home then head back to work.

yeah i know...i dont have a camera except for the crappy one on my wife's cell phone...i will get some pics with it and put them on here...i want to show off my coop i am building too!

So the best I coud get from Ideal is that they are going to TRY and send them on the tuesday 29th but most likely they will be shipping out on the 30th which is wed for a friday arrival...just means I wont be able to get to em until about 530ish after work...still it was about 430-5pm when I picked up the last lot.

by the way AF...how old til chicks are supposed to be able to fly? cuz ours are 2 weeks old today and can fly from the floor onto my son's head when he is sitting down (about 2 feet vertically i guess). They climb all over him and me. We sit down with them at least once a day and take them all out to roam around his bedroom all over him. He just LOVES his chickens! This has been a worthwhile venture already just to see how happy it makes my boy when the little buggars climb on him. His favourite (which we think may be a roo because its feathers are TOTALLY different to all the others and its the most dominant one) he has named "chickenpoo"

Well, all of my chicks start hopping around like popcorn at about 2 weeks, so yours sound about right. I've not noticed any attempts at extended flight, but who knows?
I'm so glad you're enjoying the birds. They are just awesome pets. And same as any other 'normal' pets..they each have a distint personality. It's fun watching them - they seem to 'tell' you what to name them by their antics and behaviors.
One of my Buff Orp girls just earned a name for herself- she is now dubbed 'Sybil' after my grandmother, because she has proved herself to be just the sweetest girl ever, and she makes you feel as if she's been waiting all day just to see you and say Hi.
Oh, and crappy cell phone pics are fine by us..we just love to see baby chicks! We'd especially like one of your boy with his 'chick-hat'.

Good luck with your shipment- I'm sure it will go much better than last time.

oh man! my wife got a call from ideal saying they are out of one of the chicks we want...looks like the SF are sold out....am waiting to hear back from my wife about which ones we are going to get instead.
