I have a broody raising two 4 week olds and they have been practicing roosting the last two days. It's so cute!! They go all the way up to the top roosting bar, which is a good 5 feet off the ground. It's just the cutest thing I've ever seen!!

They are still sleeping with Mama on the floor at night, but I think Mama is going to start roosting very soon. [IMG]

They are cute at that age. What usually happens with my mama hens - around 3 - 4 weeks old the mama starts jumping on the roost at night instead of returning to the nest. The babies have a fit and make repeated attempts to join her on the roost. If they succeed, all is well. If they don't, mama jumps back down and takes them to the nest. She tries again each evening or every other evening until the babies finally get the hang of it. [IMG]
