Baby Bunnies dug up

Are you sure they are rabbits? Domestic rabbits are born blind and hairless, but wild ones are not. Or maybe you have a domestic rabbit that got loose, but they can't breed with wild ones. They are not the same species, so there would need to be another domestic rabbit in the neighborhood.

Was there a lot of fur in the nest? Does pull their fur out to line the nest. If there was not a lot of fur, they may not be rabbits.

Rabbits only feed their kits once or twice a day and do not stay in the nest beyond feeding time. Feeding is over in a couple minutes, so it's easy to miss if the doe comes back.

Rabbits are extremely difficult to hand rear. They are very, very sensitive to formula and can get diarrhea from almost anything. And diarrhea is a major killer of infant and adult rabbits.

Everyone else has provided fantastic advice. I would leave them, and if you are positive the mother hasn't returned, contact your local wildlife rehabber.

We had a litter of rabbits in our yard- the mom would show up late in the afternoon and pretend to be grazing. When she thought it was safe she would make some stupendous leap to where they were. They would come out of the nest to nurse. When she finished with them, she would do another stupendous jump. I realized she didn't want to leave a trail that predators could follow to her babies. Smart bunny!!
