This is the second chick that is doing this to me and I do not know what I am doing wrong. I do not want her to die. She keeps rolling to her side and then flips her feet into the air as if she is dead. When I pick her up, she perks up chirping. The other chicken I have keeps stepping on her when she rolls over, so I placed her in a separate box in the broader with food and water. When I checked on her, she was rolled over again. Now I am holding her, keeping her warm in a dry towel. I have been giving her water through a syring (sp) and I have not witnessed her eating yet. What can I do to save this bird? I've already had one die doing the exact same behavior.

Please help:)

Do they lift up their heads until they flip themselves over onto their backs? if so, they could be star-gazers. It's caused by a deficiency of a trace element in the food the parents were eating.

So... PolyVisol (no iron) ?

Will this help? is there anything else I can do?

Wren~ Yes! She does that too! But she was perfectly fine yesterday and this morning. She just started acting like this. I placed her in a separate box with food and water. I also placed the heat lamp a little higher and took the lid off. She just sitting there chirping, but not flipping anymore

Oh thank God! my memory is really sketchy on this. I saw it when I was a kid. Other than the guy said the chicks were star gazers I can't remember much. I hope this helps!

Ok, my chicks did this A LOT! All I did was went and bought medicated chick starter and they quit! Never had a problem since.

I really do not think that she was dust bathing. She seems very weak and is sitting funny. Again- I have not seen her eat yet and I have had her since Monday. I have been giving her water. The other chicken keeps pecking on her and walking on her, so they are now separated, but she is still not right. When I first got her, she was so happy and lively, now she is barely there. Still do not know what else I can do for her.

Baby chick died this afternoon! This is the second one I lost! The butts were not blocked from what I can see, the temps are correct, and I was giving her water from a syring, but she would not eat. I am so upset! What am I doing wrong?

Feed them medicated chick starter and give them Sav-A-Chik in their water for a few days. Are you feeding them anything else?
What is all in their brooder? What kind of wood chips/litter are you using? Any & all info will help us help you.
I'm so sorry for your losses.
