Hi, I've just purchased my first baby chick and have it in a large fish tank in my living room. It is nearly 2 weeks old and I've had it for about 4 days. Every time I put my hand in the tank it rushes at it and runs around it. When I approach one end of the tank it sees my legs and rushed to that end of the tan. It is not keen on being picked up and is very sensitive to noise. I am wondering why it is doing this. Is it territorial?

No expert, but it's not happy alone, you need another chick or 2...

I agree that you should consider getting another chick close in age....chickens are very social creatures that prefer company of other chickens. The behavior could just be curiosity, or hoping to be fed?

from Ohio. So glad you joined. I agree with mpf, chickens are social animals. It needs a friend.

If you don't get it a friend, at least put it something fluffy and soft to cuddle up with... It should be under the heat lamp, so it can cuddle and rest while being warm...
