I was wondering what are your thoughts on having baby chicks in a brooder on the back porch?? It's get in the 50's at night. I was thinking about using a 250 watt red bulb and the brooder is way more than big enough for them to get out of the heat if they get too warm. I was also thinking about covering the brooder with a tarp at night to keep the wind off of them just in case. Their ages span from 2 weeks to 5 weeks old!!!

Do you think it would be okay or not a good idea???

Thanks,
Missi

i think as long as they are warm, safe from predators and out of drafts they should be fine...

2 -5 weeks are getting their regular feathers. they should be fine and toasty warm like cinnamon buns.

Well they would definetly be safe from predators but the drafts part I was hoping the tarp would help keep most of the wind off of them but I think with the hotter heat bulb would prob compensate for that!!

Thanks for your opinions!!
Missi
