Baby Chick Can't Walk ***Updated with Pics***

think he has a quality of life and is one roo that will never sneak attack me.

Thanks for the smile and laugh!!! Mine is the little runt too. I really do not know what it is yet, I do know that it is a mixed barred rock and light brahma. I thought it was a black sex link pullet until I saw the feathers on the legs, now I have no clue. Guess I will just have to wait for a few weeks to find out.

I really do wonder what causes something like this...

Again thanks!!!

Hi, Tes. I once had a Speckled Sussex chick that was hatched with a frozen hock joint. It was stuck in the bent position and would not release. I dont know if he would have gotten better with some type of therapy, but we elected to put him down. Sorry I cant be more help for you.

E-mail those pics to DCT, you would be suprised at what DCT has fixed in the past. May take making a chair or a chick shoe but it can be done.

Cyn - I thought the same thing, but oh I just dont want to go that route. But if it gets to bad...

nnbreeder - well I will give it a try... it might work... otherwise... dont know what to do.

Thanks for the help and advice!!!

I had a Buttercup baby with a tendon slipped out just like that, and we put it down after a few weeks because the situation was getting worse and worse. We took it to the vet and it had surgery, but it never took.

Well, I knew I was not going to like the outcome of this poast, but, I know its for the best and you all would not stear me wrong... I just wish there was something I could do! Personally I think its better to take care of it now, than to get fully attached and cry yet once again. I just hate the fact of loosing another so soon. Had to put down one of my EE chicks because it had crossbeak... its just so sad... Okay... I have to wait til after my birthday because I want NO sadness on it... guess I will have DH take care of it on Tuesday...

By the way, did you all see one of the toes?? What is that all about? long and yellow???

Thank you all for being so honest and telling what I knew I had to do all along...

Need to get to bed... got to get to work early tomorrow...

Thanks again all.... Tes

I have 3 baby Quail that just hatched out this morning. All of the baby chicks have stiff legs and cant stand up.They just spin around trying to stand up but their legs are straight as a board.
Can anyone tell me what might be wrong with them.
