Baby chick delay set back?

Put pebbles in the waterer, so the chick doesn't fall in and get wet.

Temperatures during the day here, are about 91 degrees. So the chicks only seek warmth from the hen when they need it. The warm day allows them to stay out longer.

I only turn on the heat pad mama at night, and off first thing in the morning. But, your chick doesn't have a hen, to keep it warm. So it should have the option of supplemental heat, available.

Ants are a pain. I deal with fire ants here. So, I would not use sugar if they are near. But they'll even get into the feed!

I look for the nest, and then, pour boiling water on it with a kettle, to destroy the nest. You may have to do it a few times. But, it works pretty good. However, the boiling water sterilizes the soil, so nothing will grow there. If that doesn't work I would use ant traps, so the chickens don't get into anything poisonous.

Unfortunately the chick stopped responding yesterday evening. it never seemed to get one side working properly entirely. It had fluffed out a bit, and things were looking up, but then it stayed laying on its side a lot and not opening its eyes any more. It just peeped softly and I felt muscle convulsions going through it often, and it kept getting fainter. I decided to have my fiance humanely put her down, as much as he hates to do that with the little ones. The little body convulsions were too much to bear, and I could tell she wad getting weaker, not better.

I had decided earlier to that the heat lamp was too much in the weather, and I think that was a good choice and didn't have anything to do with her shutting down, it was about 97 outside here when she started taking a down turn, and I had done the nutri-drench and water, she had a little scrambled egg in the morning, had a couple little poops.

I noticed she began pooping a different texture that was more liquid, and had any orange tinge, then something not like poop at all before she passes that was slimy like a booger. I know it wad probably something out of love I did wrong, but I don't imagine the chick would have had a better chance if I didn't try, so I can only try to learn better.

I never forced water, only used a very tiny curved syringe tip to make bubbles of water to tip onto her beak she clearly drank, and very little at a time. I only did 2, maybe 3 drops in total of the nutri-drench spaced out, and the electrolyte mix after I learned to make it thinking it could only help. She ate well in the morning on scrambled eggs, but definitley had been kept too warm overnight. She perked up after cooling down, but like I said, although I got her standing and better fluffed with a warm bath, she never got a side of her working right it seemed. She fell over quite a bit. Her normal hatched siblings are all doing fine with mama hen - even the one who fell 9ft from a loft!
