Baby chick is always active and eating no other problems with him/her

Did you get him from a hatchery or did you hatch him?

got him/her from someone that was looking to get rid of like a big group of 30-40 chicks.

why any clue to what it could be?

If from hatchery I believe I’m not 100% sure but I believe some hatchery pluck some of thier vent areas to prevent pasty butt.

I would maybe see if you can get in touch with this person and see if that’s what this is if not maybe it’s just them pulling feathers

It looks like emphalitis (sp?) Aka mushy chick disease. From what I've read it's not reversible. I really hope it isn't!

hope some experts can hop in the thread and let me know for sure. Hope there’s treatments for it he’s awesome always active eating drinking!

How she stands?

Looks like downy loss, perhaps a bit of picking.
I'd leave the scab alone and see how she does since she's eating/drinking and active.
