Hello everyone!!
I just got three baby chicks yesterday, and their about 1-3 weeks old.
And just this morning I checked on all of them, and my easter egger chick is gasping a little bit, she's eating and drinking, but I was just worried because I had a chick with a little bit of a gasp in my last batch also.
So, since this is my second chick having this gasp I would really like to know how I can treat or prevent this.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thank you!

I am going to think since this is a repetitive issue, it's the breeder where you get your chicks from.

If it's not the same breeder, then it must be environmental, meaning something in your brooder or the air they breathe.

I'll list some things off the top of my head, but it could be anything...

Cedar chips
Teflon or using stove or oven within range of chicks
Air freshener
Something in the water - try bottled
Mold somewhere, perhaps basement fan blowing some upstairs?
Fresh paint/varnish, or sun baking something near them.

You could try moving them to another place and see if it persists.

Yes, she is from tye same breeder, but tye chicks I've had, which is under tye counter out of the kitchen has been perfectly fine.
Do you think I could add anything in her water or food to help her?

Are they on chick starter or all flock crumbles and eating/drinking well despite the gasping?

I would not get chicks from that breeder again until you try chicks from elsewhere first and have success, as having two batches with gasping chicks is either genetic or something where your brooder is.

I've hatched hundreds of my own and shipped eggs and never had one do that.
