This is my first message. New owners of 1 buff, 1 golden sexlink and 1 Welsummer. We noticed our little Buff had a weird eye at about 6 days old. She was fine until then and then top of eye slowly got really swollen and looked like her right eye wasn't attached to socket. You could only see half of the cornea at the bottom of eye, the top was white like her eye was rolling down into head. We took her to the avian med center at 10 days old and vet said she had an absess behind her eye, probably from bacteria in shipping or at farm store.
Now we have her taking antibiotic and celebrex. .1 oz in a syringe that we give orally. We are struggling with getting it in her little beak. My husband has to be pretty rough to get it in her mouth but we have that kind of figured out but now she seems to be so afraid of us. Any other ideas on how to get her to take the meds?
Also she seems to be chirping A LOT and shes laying and her little body shakes as she chirps constantly. Is she in shock or pain or is she just nervous around us?
Any help is appreciated. Obviously we want the swelling to go down and her eye back to normal (even tho she probably lost a lot of eyesight already if not all in that eye). She could live a long happy life if we can get her to take the meds.
