Hi i have 5 chicks which are 1 week old
.one of them is having squeaky poop with gas .I dont know why always he keep on standing.while other chicks sleep laying.he is also lazy and seem ill but i dont know the problem.what should i do

If they keep their head down (like no strength to hold it up), it could be a vitamin E deficiency. It wouldn’t hurt to squeeze a vitamin E capsule into its mouth daily. My friend told me this and I did it to my chick and now months later another friend is treating her chick for the same thing. It’s almost been a week and her chick is now doing much better. He was dropping his head down and backing up with his head between his feet. Poor guy. She is giving him NutriDrench drops daily as well as the vitamin/mineral/probiotic powder in the waterer (Rooster Booster is the brand she is using, from TSC) as well as a vitamin E capsule squeezed in his beak daily. He also had dark stools. She’s keeping an eye out for cocci symptoms but the other three chicks are fine (& cocci would affect them all, in my experience).
Good luck!

How much mg or iu of vitamin e should i give

I gave (& was told by my chicken farmer friend who also gives it) 400IUs once or twice daily. I got the softgels from Walmart and poked a hole in one end, opened the beak, and squeezed as much as out as I could into the beak. (A second person is helpful, but not necessary.)
My other friend has been giving her 3 week old chick a 400 IU soft gel twice daily since Sunday night and her chick is doing better. It was unable to eat or drink on Sunday and kept its head down. Now it can walk, eat and drink on its own, but still drops & rests its head from time to time. We found it takes a week to a month to recover, so fingers crossed for her chick and yours!
