Hi

My grandfather bought an incubator and unfortunately it seems like he didn’t read the guide well and left the tray in the incubator when they were hatching, one got both his legs stuck and is now injured.

He is two days old now, and has one chick with him, the other chick is energetic and rarely makes noise but the injured one cries a lot :( and rest a lot setting on the ground instead of walking around. he eats and drinks.

I cleaned the wound yesterday and now thankfully he can walk unlike day one but he still seems in pain because when i hold him he mostly shivers! Unlike his brother, he makes noise almost all the time! It breaks my heart but I don’t know what to do!

Please help with any knowledge you have even if just a little :( I hate to seem him suffering,

How can I help? Is there a way to relief his pain? Should I feed him something to get him more energy?

I would clean the leg wounds with saline or wound spray. Apply some plain antibiotic ointment to the scrapes. Are they in a brooder now? I would work with the chick feeding it and watering it, and helping it to get around. A little PT may help. Let us know if it cannot stand, because it could have a leg issue related to the incubator, such as a slipped tendon.

Thank you for the advice!

He can walk around, and he eats and drink on his own, but he seems to prefer sitting down and resting, what concerning me is that he makes stress noises most of the time, I’m assuming it’s the pain, because the temperature is good and the other chick acting fine.

Can I use Fucidin? It’s the only antibiotic cream I have
