Baby Chick not eating or drinking HELP!

My mail order chicks arrived on Wednesday am. The PO called me at 7:15, home with them by 7:45. Ordered 26, received 27. Three were DOA and since then 5 have died. 4 of them would not eat or drink. They were very weak. I tried sugar water and egg yokes, which didn't seem to help. The last one was eating and drinking, but found dead this morning. Good luck. I have not had any luck when they were very weak.

Can i ask what hatchery your order came from?

Sorry to here about yours! This morning ours managed to fall over backwards into the water. She wasn't in danger of drowning but her body temp was way down and she was not moving much. I got her up, scrubberd her pretty dry. When I got done with her she was peeping mad. We just got back from being gone 5 hours & she's stll up and going. We only ordered 11 so I'm trying hard not to lose one.

Hope things get better. I lost 1 yesterday morning and thought I was losing another one last night. I kept dipping her beak in water about every 20-30 min for several hours before I went to bed. She made it through the night and is much better today.

I've also given mine some of their feed mixed in water with a drizzle of molasses in it. That has helped them alot.

Get a syringe or eye dropper and buy Pedialyte for babies. That will keep them from getting dehydrated. I happen to have a new born and that seemed to do the trick. I also mixed in some rice cereal and the baby chick when from laying on its side when I got home to walking around after a few hours. I pick her up this morning and she seemed a little shacky and when I got home after work she was laying on her side not moving. I showed here where the water and food was before I left but I don't think she moved from the spot I left her.

there really is not much more you can do other then make sure she drinks, if they were shipped the chick is probelly just to weak from the journey, or the hacthery took to long in shipping them. unfortunatelly the same thing happened to me, infact one was dead in the box when i got it. unfortently it will most likely die.

I know the thread is old, but for whoever trying for a solution do try this.
Keep the chick away from others.
Mix some fresh turmeric powder with water and feed it to the chick. Feed it through out the day. It will be in it's best energetic stage by next day or the day after.
Turmeric has the healing properties.
