Hello, my chicks hatched one week ago today out of our incubator. All of them are doing perfectly fine, eating and drinking, and are very active. However one chick, is much smaller than the rest, always seems to be sleeping, and I haven’t seen it eat or drink but it could have while I wasn’t watching I guess. I’m not sure what to do. Help!! The chick I’m worried about is on the right. Also if anyone has an answer to this, why is the chick in the middle of the three already growing wings so fast?...all the others barley have wing feathers poking out from their down.

Cute little ones. I had a runt also, not the extent of yours. We kept an eye on her closer. If yours isn't eating, you may need to be the one to feed her. Ours slept also, was always in the middle like she couldn't get warm enough. Just watch it, so as not to go lethargic on you. Ours was the runt while in the house. As soon as they went outside, she just grew like crazy. As far as the growth comparison, they are like children, they grow at their own pace. Especially if they are different varieties. Good Luck.

I've had runts like that before. I currently have a Sebright bantam that is half the size of the rest and still peups even though it is close to adult.
Check your chick's beak. Is it crooked or crossed slightly?

The one with more wing is just a fast feathering breed.

thanks! The chick does seem to be lathargic...only laying down and sleeping, even when i pick it up and put it on its feet it just lays back down.
