I have a 7? day old chick that can't walk. She can move her legs if I pick her up and she flaps her wings, otherwise she just lays there. I seperated her and have been making sure she drinks the electrolyte water (almost didn't buy, sure glad I did) and she eats but I don't know if she will start to walk eventually. She is much smaller than the other chicks I got. Any help or suggestions PLEASE??

Please help!

What is the bedding that you are using? You shouldn't use a slippery surface, such as newspaper (unless it is shredded up), because the chick's legs can slip from under her. This is called spraddle leg. If you have, you can fix it by adding a brace type thing to the chicks legs. To see a picture of the brace, go to: http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/BRKRaisingChicks.html
They
have information to help this problem. If not, I don't know what's wrong. Maybe, since you said she is smaller than the other chicks, she just has a birth defect. I hope that she does have spraddle leg (over worse things) because it can be cured and she is only 7 days old (I think if nothing has been done for too long, they can die). I hope this helped and I hope your little chicky gets better!

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!! It looks exactly like her and I am using shavings but have a garbage bag underneath like the feed store did when I got her. She's a different breed from the other two I have and I was told they were all two days old but she's obviously younger than them, they are already in need of a wing clipping and hers are tiny. Thank you again, I'll let you know how she's doing in a couple of days.
