Baby chick panting/lethargic

She's still alive, no improvement though... Not sure what else to do

She's very tiny. I would make some wet mushy feed to see if she can manage that.

I was wondering if you got her from a place where she might have been handled a lot, and possibly dropped, squeezed or otherwise injured. The hiccupping sounds like a pain response to me but I am just guessing. Maybe @Eggcessive or @ChickenCanoe would be kind enough to check in.

It's more of a panting than a hiccup now? She can barely hold her head up, occasionally she'll perk up a little but definitely not improving enough for me to not worry. I don't think she was jostled around much..I got her from a small local hatchery.

Have you checked for pasty butt or a blocked vent?

I'm having this same issue. Mine is 4 days old and until yesterday was smaller than the rest and not as hyper, but still active.

Now just listless and mostly limp, panting.

She seems to perk up here and there for a few seconds, and then stops. After giving her some yolk earlier, she perked up but only for less than a minute. She doesn't want the sugar water either.

I separated her as the other chicks are pecking and pushing her.
