We had a mother hen who pecked one of our chicks very badly during the night last night. The wound cannot be more than five or six hours old because I got up during the night to check on all the chicks and they were fine. You can see what looks like could be some of her insides, but I am not sure if they are or not. We've put some neosporin on there because it was what we had available in the moment, but would love to know anyone's suggestion on:

a) what to do to properly treat the wound?
b) how long do we isolate the chick for?
c) she's not eager to eat or drink - how long can she go without food or water and still survive?

Any help or advice would be great! Thanks so much, in advance!

If you cannot get the chick to eat or drink, the best thing to do is euthanize the chick. You can try to give it a boost so it will have enough energy to eat and drink with Poultry Nutri-Drench. One drop orally, morning, noon, and evening. If you see no improvement in a day, it is time to end the suffering. I'm sorry.

We had some Kickin' Chicken and added that to some chick feed and she has started to eat. We're going to see how she does through the day. Any suggestions on what to put on her wound? Is neosporin okay or is there something better?

Any anti Bacteria ointment and make sheer to sanitize it with the spray and you should keep her away from the others for a while.
