Silkies - 4 weeks

they are growing their head-poofs in only 3 feathers at a time. looks hilarious!
they are either Silkie X EE or Silkie X Silkie, I'm not sure. I thought they were silkie X EE crosses, but they are coming in with silkied feathers, and you have to have 2 silkie feather genes to make that happen. notice once has a yellow beak. what gives?

cute- I have 2 silky,mixes that are 3rd gen silky, and they still have the tufts, I also have 3 frizzles mixes that are 3 gen. silky mix with out tufts.

what do you think about the silkie feathered gene? I read that you need to have 2 carriers of the gene to throw silkie feather chicks, like mine have.

did yours have silkie feathers even though they are crossed?
did they grow into smooth feather?
