Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

You guys..cute babies..you are making me baby hungry..I have a lot to go into lock down this come Wed. Doing the Easter Hatch A Long. Can't wait for more fuzzy butts!

And, I'm seeing some name I just may have to steal...cute!

Our newest, from an egg we almost tossed.
She grew until the whole egg was taken up, thought it was a dud because the green egg was too dark to see.
Gave her a chance and after I threatened her with the trash can she got off her butt and pipped.

Interesting how color genetics can work. I really wish I understood it more, but seeing what comes out is lots of fun.
Same mama, one almost black one almost white.

i've had my chickies for about 2 days now,but they dont like me all that much.am i doing something wrong or does it take time?
Ive found it takes time. Try petting one f the brave ones that comes toward you softly, and ust keeping bringing them their food and water. They will figure out that you're one of the good guys.

This brand new cattle watering tub is working well for our 6 new chicks. 3 buffs and 3 barred rocks. I lower the light at night about 1 inch because our furnace goes down to 60 degrees and we crack open a window in the back of the house. This was taken 4 days ago and I can't believe how much they have grown in that time. They are very active and love to get on that box in the background.

I spend time alone with each chick (several minutes) away from the others. I talk to them, say their name, hold them close, pet them while on a towel, etc. The more time I spend with them the friendlier they seem to get. It is hard sometimes to get them off my arm and onto the towel for treats.

Hi There, We are new to owning chickens! I am super happy to have found this website. The support and information is wonderful. So now I will show our new additions

We have a EE, Welsummer, Buff Orpington, Cuckoo Marans, and a Speckled Sussex.

Newest pics of the second batch of babies that we picked up on Saturday at the chick fair!
All sexed little ladies: 3 EE's, 3 BO's, and 2 LB's :)

Today we let a couple of our straight-run 2 week olds say hello (pretty sure most of them are turning out to be girls too):

They're about 2x the size of the new girls.

And this is the now updated double brooder set up (used to be a single):

The closest is the baby brooder, which is a cardboard box (with the "momma-puppy" stuffed animal our 2wk olds used when they were a week old) that opens into a little play pen area. This way the new girls and the older chicks can see each other. The older chicks by now can fly in and out of their baby pool brooder with ease, so we made space for them to wander around on their side of the screen divider (taken off of an old, unused birdcage I had). This way they can all acclimate for a bit before being fully introduced :)
