I've heard of cockerel chicks crowing at young as 2-3 weeks...especially if there's another rooster around that's crowing.
I am so jealous! Cute!
What you are witnessing are chickens in a state of sunshine-induced bliss. It's perfectly normal and a very good thing to see.
lovely chicks, so fluffy and adorable.
I can't wait till its my turn and I have a month to go.
congrats on all your new babes
Thanks, I understand the waiting! We have been waiting since October to get chicks. Finally Spring got here and then we had to wait till after we went on vacation. It seemed to take forever. I hope your month goes fast. In the last few months I slowly picked up items we would need for the chicks to spread out the expense. have you gotten anything for your chicks yet?
Yes I have, isn't it awful being so excited lol. I have my area all set and ready including the red bulb in the
lamp so they don't peck at each other. The chick starter, I also found metal dishes that you use glass jars with
for food and water. I want to make sure I can change the glass jars out each day so they can be sterilized for
the new little fluff balls. I know its crazy hubby just looks at me wondering if I've lost my noodles.
From different posts (and there have been many) I've read it looks as though I need to make a first aid kit for
the chickens. Everything from electrolytes and ointment to organic apple cider vinegar will be part of my kit.
These are the things I will gather over the next couple weeks. I also saw some vids of things you can put in
with the baby chicks as toys. One guy hung a few pieces of ribbon up over his box for them to have something
to jump up and peck at it was very cute.
I know my time is getting here and I am waiting ever so impatiently![]()
