My husband built them a roost and they got the hang of it pretty quickly!

I need advice. We got 3 Buff Orph and 3 RIR's this week. Would it be too stressful for them, to add babies next week? These 6 are so happy and content that I'd hate to upset them.

My first chicks! We are super excited! We got 12 today from a local farm. Two of each breed, so a total of 6 different kinds. What have I gotten myself into!

My cats are also fascinated with my chicks... specifically, with why I won't let them eat the chicks.

My cat is scared of my chicks - she won't go anywhere near the garage door, even though usually she begs to go out there.

I added a 5 chicks a few days after and mine did fine. Cute chicks!!

White Plymouth Rocks. Out of the six, three of them might be roosters. I say this because those three have pronounced ridges where their combs will be, and three of them don't.

lol. I may look for some. My hubby and I keep going back and forth between waiting and just going for it. I am going to see if any are left and research the breeds. Thanks for the encouragement!!

Black Jersey Giant chicks, supposedly 15 pullets and 3 cockerels.







2 of them have the "eyebrows" like the middle pic, the rest are all black (except belly and wingtips) like the bottom pic.

The first 2 chicks my broody (Layla) hatched this morning!

This barred rock pullet may not be much of a baby anymore, but she doesn't seem to realize that. She sat in my mom's arms for ages while my mom cuddled, petted, and sang to her.
