Love all these lil chick pics, I was looking forward to adding some of my own, and being only days away from being able to do so, UNTIL a weasel found it's wY into the coop and cleaned out 27 of the eggs my hen was sitting on. Still have a few eggs left, I hope at least one will make it. What a nightmare weasels are to a coop.

Time to secure your coop a little better, sry for your loss.

Lol our coop is the most secure !!!! Two years ago we had coons, we trapped 23 coons that summer, coon problem licked, last summer foxes. Again solved, now all of a sudden a weasel (probably cause every other critter is toasted) has moved in and beacause they are so nimble and can fit threw a dime size hole it makes for securing almost impossible. Eat traps with fresh meat is what's in effect as we speak. So I'll either get at least one chick hopefully out of the five or a nice little weasel pelt to nail to the coop wall

A dime size might be a bit small, I had ferrets and they were able to get threw a hole a little bigger then a quarter but nothing smaller. Im a firm believer of live trap and relocating, I know those predators killed your chickens and you said your coop is secure, then how did they get in? Ive had predators all around my coop and property and never lost a girl yet. I always tell people that kill predators because they killed there chickens is that you have to remember they were here way before we were and have more if a right to be hete then we do. Live traping and relocation is the best way to deal with predators, you dont want ti end up damaging the wildlife and the delicate ecosystem we have wich was caused by people encrouching on there natural habitat and killing them. Dont get me wrong im a avid hunter but I do it legaly and only take what I can use most times im out there just to enjoy nature and just watch the animals I am hunting.

We also have a ferret :) Roxy. But the ones here in eastern ontario are smaller then a ferret. And can stretch themselves out into the size a a cigar, I live on a farm and live in farming country. The last thing you want to do to a neighbour is pass a problem along to them. Therefore we go the route we go. It's a new problem within the last 3 days so I hope it won't continue much longer.
