Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

our babies from May are growing up!

Here was hatch day (or day after?) -

and here are 2 of the 3 girls now -

Here are the 4 cockerels -

I have the 3 pullets in a coop now (will be interesting to see what type/color eggs they lay) and the 4 boys will be going to freezer camp soon...

What kind are yours? pretty!

Mine are funny because you can have names picked out, but then they kinda name themselves. The front white one I was going to call Lilly, but then she seemed more like a princess. I have never had chicks hatch 3 days late and not only make it but be so spry.

If you are asking me, I call them the "Barn Yard Chix" because I have no idea exactly what they are...

The solid black, smooth feathered banty hen sat on the eggs. BUT I have 3 banty hens... And I think they are all crosses as well - all have a little silkie blood, but other than that, who knows? At least two of the eggs that hatched were larger eggs - one definitely hatched from a blue egg (EE hen) and one from a brown egg (Production Red hen). I have two "roos" - one is a white ameraucanaXleghorn and the other is a tiny struttin' guy (red??) that we think is a serama or serama X bantam.

So - while smoking out a potential broody with ceramic eggs, I noticed someone laid a sneaky egg in the nest. For grins, I took it and threw it the 'bator to test my abilities to artificially hatch. About a week later, convinced my broody was committed, I set seven eggs under her. Those I'm still waiting on. Meanwhile, say hello to my first 'bator baby, born today:

Was just reading about copying and pasting pics from Facebook and had to try. These are my girls, have had them for 1 week. They are a constant source of joy. Probably should have them out in the shed but have them in my bathtub just so they are close.
