Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

If you peek under tails of upright chick the butt ring looks like a cherrio. If the top part of the ring has a slit it is a girl, if it has what looks like a pimple that does not disappear. it is a boy.

Below is what a girl looks like see the slit on the top part of the cherrio? This was when she was a chick.
.
the pic below is when she is all grown up. Pretty good guessing huh?

Ok, now I have to check them all when I get home from work (they are NOT gonna be happy about this, LOL!).

I would not suggest trying to vent sex chicks that old. The liklihood of a correct diagnosis is reduced greatly after 1-2 days, and the chances of injuring them are much greater. Peeping under their tail is one thing (go right ahead), but true vent sexing involves manipulating the vent until it inverts/protrudes a bit, and should not be done on birds that are 2-4 weeks.

I couldn't vent sex a chicken if my life depended on it, nor would I ever bother to try.

Thanks for the advise. I have been lucky on many occasions I guessY.
Maybe. Of course, you're dealing with 50-50, and I would play Vegas all day on those odds.

Generally speaking, true vent sexing has to be done before the youngster eats and thus distends its lower alimentary tract.

Vent sexing is based on the fact that the hatchling cockerel has a rudimentary sex organ called the "male process" . . . a very small, glossy, transparent bulb that protrudes from amid the second of three cloacal folds inside the cavity. The structure is independent of the surrounding tissues and pokes out almost as far as the vent opening when the border is pushed down far enough for examination. If you're not farsighted, you can see the process with the naked eye. In contrast, the typical female chick has a shallow depression or just a trace of swelling at the same site.
So far, so good ... but here's the catch:
One day-old cockerel out of five isn't so distinctly characterized. He has a smaller bulb, a flat bulb, a bulb that protrudes downward instead of up or a grooved bulb that looks more like a fold than a male process.

More confusing still, 40% of day-old pullets have organs that resemble those of the males. This happens because embryos of both sexes start out with male-like bumps. In the majority of females, the process begins to shrink by the second week of incubation and has vanished by hatching time. Not so, however, with two pullets out of five. Their lingering protuberances are usually smaller than cockerels', but are sometimes as large as the average male bulb.

I will keep doing with what works for me. I went to the feed store this year they let me "guess" on my 2 naked necks chicks. I am glad I trusted my "gut" on the straight run. this is Glenda

And Nilla. Both are now laying cream colored eggs.

Introduced a bigger mirror a few minutes ago and boy did it cause a scene! They love it and keep trying to find the chicks behind it! Here are 5 of the 6 fluff butts in front of it. They are 10 days old tonight.
So here they are!

I just took some pictures of my six EE pullets/chicks. They are three weeks old:

^ Baby Rae... Rather shy, but sweet...

^ Eve... The largest chick, nearly twice as big as some of her sisters!

Adorable Olivia... She is currently the smallest!

Olivia stretching out!

^ Specks... She is finally arming up to me! I love how her face reminds me of an owl.

^ Tinkerbell, my favorite chick.

^ Tinkerbell again.

^ Treble, the 2nd largest of the girls.
