She's the only one who's figure this neat trick out- look how pleased she is with herself

Australorp are my very favorite breed. I looked at the partridge rock pics and am trying out some this year too. I got 6 and am hoping they turn out pretty and lay nice eggs.
The Ausralorp were very hard to come by this year. Sold out most of the time.
Congrats on the little cuties.

I have heard nothing but great things about Australorps! I just started with chckens and the Australorps were the ones I wanted most, but you're right, seems like they are hard to come by. I had to order at one of my local feed stores and my delivery date was April 24th. Then they called me a couple days ago and asked if I would like them early since they got a surprise shipment that day. Of course I said yes and even took an extra!

these babies are 1 week old now (gray egg gene chicks), below are americauna Isbar/or blue andelusian 5 days old

here is a pic of the yellow in back so you can see her markings...

although I believe the yellow is a male and below that is a SFH chick hatched Wed.

Quote: Such cute little chicks you have. You will have to bear with them in the ugly stage lol. They turn out stunning in the sunlight.

I could only get one this year. I really do think the world of them. Calm, hearty, not to skittish, like to garden with me without being in the way, lay nice eggs what's not to love.
I did have more reserved but DH said that 23 in the brooder was quite enough. He likes the BO's and hamburgs a lot. I had picked up 3 BO's for him since Twinkie is getting on in years and is having trouble getting around. I did manage to get the Dark Brahma's that I wanted though. I still may sell some of the little ones I have to make room for more Aussies.

the roos are handsome and very gentle. a friend gave me this roo, I had 2 I wanted to introduce, he took the leader role but was not mean about it. He had a very deep crow. a Neighbor came by with her little boy about 4 and said they have hens and would very much like a roo. since I had 2 roos and more chicks coming I gave her this nice boy. I am sure it was a good fit.

well she had a little boy and it is important to have good experiences. I currently have blue chickens and the boy I kept is a blue, but black is also good for blue chickens. so either way..
