How old are your chicks? I'm so scared to free range because I'm scared they won't return. We have too many Hawks and raccoons so I'm really nervous! How did you do it the first time?

I'm just about to start free ranging and feel your fear! I'm going to part-time range where you just let them out for a couple hours before sundown, like after work Etc. I think they are so much happier then. It's how my neighbor's do it. Hawks could still be an issue, but I thinks it's worth it. I'll probably hangout with mine for the first few times.

5 chicks, with a broody, she is not the biological mom but she hatched them. the chicks were 1.5 weeks old when she got them, it was love at first sight.
