I came up with some names for my August babies, at least some of them. First, the Marans...

Assuming she sticks with this pattern and doesn't suddenly go full cuckoo I will name her Astraea.

As for the 'twins' (Yes, I know they aren't really twins), their names came to me while I was roofing their run. From the radio, no less...

They look like bantam size....are they? Id adopt them in a heart beat if I lived closer but Im in California.
Here is my newest "adoption", Annie. I call her Annie Pannie Orphan Annie because her first mother abandoned her and sib, sib died so I put Annie under some broodies who have been on non hatching eggs for a couple of months. I thought they would adopt her eagerly but they did not so I had to step in.

She is about three weeks old. Im keeping her plenty warm so she is feathering slowly for a female but her temperament is more suggestive of a female than a male. In a few more months I will know more confidently if she is an Annie or an Andy!

I agree, my yard is filled with bantams. They are all mutts and so I get a surprise with every hatch. I have hand raised many and also agree that they come very attached and are also very friendly to all humans. I took my first little chick to school with me every day for a month after I found him. He was never afraid of humans and would run right up to visitors instead of screaming and running from friends like most of my flock members do.
