Here's my EE :)

We got our chicks from TSC. In these pics we have 2 Partridge Plymouth Rocks, 2 Ameracuanas, 1 Red Pullet, and 1 Reg Pullet (I'm thinking White Leghorn). Yesterday we went to another TSC to get bedding, the one that when I called on Monday said they wouldn't have any chicks until TODAY, so I wouldn't be tempted to get anymore! They lied...they had just gotten in new babies yesterday, and the feature breed was Speckled Sussex. Needless to say, we now have 2 more Red Pullets, 2 more Reg Pullets, and 2 Speckled Sussex AND I'm picking up 1 Black Maran and 1 Blue Maran tomorrow from a local farmer. This 'addiction' thing is no joke! So far the 12 we have seem very healthy and happy. They are in the brooder in our garage, and my daughter takes her poetry book and reads to them for 30 min every night. She says they like it! :) LOL Here are some pics of all of them we took last night.

miquwid I just noticed you're in Rochester, NY! I've been there a few times...have a lot of work buddies in that area! My daughter loved the National Museum of Play when we were there. Very cool!
I believe we all love the that Museum it is so much fun, the grocery store is the best part of it all! Congrats on the new babies, We are not getting our second set until may which is good because I have surgery in little over a week (found out after I got the girls) so 6 babies is all I can handle right now, that way i will have extra time to finish the coop. I think that is my favorite part of the process is building the coop. At first I didn't want to do it but found already made coops way too expensive and if you really want something unique then making it yourself is so much fun. I love how my son saws all his frustrations melt away and when plays with the babies. I can't wait to see more images of the new babies.

Here's some of my new babies! Four of them are a week old already, the others we just picked up yesterday and will be adding a couple more next week.

awesome photo shoot I have a small studio in my house that is a no pet zone that my brooder is in LOL and unfortunately I've been working a lot and have school and doc appts that I haven't had the time to do a photo shoot so I'm super jealous. But I do make sure I take pictures everyday of the babies so I at least have that. I can't wait to see more. Your nake neck seems to have a lot of personality very cute.

The grocery store is the best part!! I played in there myself! LOL So we went and picked up the Marans today. Again, I didn't listen to myself...got 2 Black Marans and 2 Blue Marans (although one is what he called a 'throwback'). So we are now at 16 total....DEFINITELY no more. The gentleman I got the Maran's from was pretty positive that he knew how to tell the sexes apart...so hopefully they are all pullets. I have 6 others(Ameracuana, Plymouth Rock, and Speckled Sussex) that I have no clue if they are pullets or roos. I can't have Roos where I live, so I will probably end up losing some because of that. My daughter and I named them all tonight, even the ones we suspect might be roos...and it's a lot of names to remember! :) I ended up ordering a pre-made coop, as I know time is an issue, and well I'm not very confident in my building skills (I haven't built anything since Ag class in 7th grade)!!! I may break down and attempt to build a 'bigger and better' coop this summer, but we'll see. I need to evaluate some plans to determine if I could do it successfully. I wish you the best of luck with your surgery. I had surgery in November...so I know the recovery part isn't much fun. The good part is you have the sweet babies to help you through, and good things to look forward too (i.e., EGGS)!!! :) I plan on getting some pics of the Marans tomorrow, and will post some. I love they have feathered legs, even at one day old! So cute!

Thanks watching the babies does melt your heart! So cool I can't wait to see your Marans, we can't have roos either. Building a coop is definitely intimidating I had to have a lot of reasurance from many many many people that I could even do much less start the project, I think if you take your time and look on here an pintrest and google you'll get some good ideas and will be able to make one. I can't wait to see the pics!
