I really like that brooder box how big is it (height too) do you cover it how many birds to you put in? I have been using totes and a couple of bigger wire animal cages but my DH is building me an actual movable box next weekend! Thank you

This is actually an old whelping box I made for our last litter. It measures roughly 5x5 and 24" tall. It has a split in the front where it folds down. Serves the purpose well! Currently there are 13 chicks and 3 Quail (rubbermaid container).






And these will be in shortly after incubation. Just got them today.

Thought I would post a pics of my chicks. Have no idea what 4 of them are, maybe a Cochin Mix, got them from a lady who hatched them for a preschool. I do have 2 EE and 2 RIR that are 2 weeks on Wed. and then a Barred Rock (I think) that is 3 weeks, and then the 4 mystery chicks are 3 weeks as well. Plus I have 2 rescued girls that I have outside for the day, they are around 5-6 weeks old.

Adorable chicks! As far as your mystery chick, I'm no expert by any means as I got my first chicks just a week ago BUT . . . your mystery chick sure looks a lot like my barred rock babies.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge will let us both know what it is.
