I'm super duper excited to announce that after 3 1/2 years of keeping chickens, we FINALLY got a broody! Yesterday, her first chicks hatched. Meet Uno and Dos:

Uno is in the back, Dos in the front. They'll get more permanent names when they're older.


Here's the proud mama with her babies.

I tell you what, if you were going to design a hen for being a broody mama, you couldn't do much better than a cochin. It's been biting cold here the past couple of days, and she just fluffs out until she's rounder than round and wraps herself around those eggs and babies. She's amazing.

Puff looks a little to young to tell the gender. For a more definite answer u can wait till Puff has feathered out more. Bantam or LF? Do u know?

Hard to tell but have you ever thought Puff could be a blue Cochin? Do u have other chicks like Puff?
