after our hens only throwing buff and black chicks,my favourite hen wilma who is a buff hen, finally became broody,she then hatched this gorgeous little chick which was grey!it was so surprising but unfortunately 4 days after he hatched he passed away. How cute.

I wish I was as good as that Mr. rock. lolz. but Those are all my guesses' after 1 days adoring observation! So far we have 3 cats that can be in the room with the brooder but only with invitation to go into the room and with lid closed screen ON! I started playing Murray McMurrary and other "chicken" playlists from youtube about 8 months ago. I just let them play as I went about chores trying to get them used to the noises! I guess it worked pretty well as we had to pass all the happy kitty faces here with my box of peeping chicks and not one of the 15 we currently have as rescues showed any real interest

So if anyone wants to adopt a desensitized kitty? And LOVES cats I'm sure I have one that would love you back! I have several ferals in the area that need to be out on a farm with humans but most of ours were abandoned by their previous owners and are totally people cats. I have alot of hands on experience with cats, dogs, and people, but this is the first with chicks. Everyone made it through the night I have been making sure the weakest eat about every 2 hours, but they seem to be doing okay. A bit of pasty butt with my BO's, and 1 of the ee's but everything else seems right. I'm totally paying more attention to the egger's as I don't want to cry when we process our broilers. The broilers are cuties too but ..... I eat chicken and honestly think I can participate in the processing or go vegan (won't happen). Thanks to all the brooder ideas and advice given here on BYC we are all good in the hood! Peace!

I tried to find a pic of my cat, Pokey, she is 17 I could not find any pics of her, I did find an old pic of my dog, Duke he is 2 and a half now, but he was a rescue puppy, and this is the pic I saw on the internet that made me want to adopt him.
the pic below is and old pic of my daughter and her duck he would sit on your lap, hop off to chase away chickens who wanted to share the lap, and he would not poop on you. I thought that was nice.

That's nice you left the nesting material in the new brooder. Mine was pretty poopy so I put it in the compost instead! Congrats
