Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

When will I be able if my Chicks are Male or Female
Depends on the breed and your "eye", as well as the individual chick. Some chicks seem to just shout "ROOSTER!" the moment they hatch. Others keep their secret for a long, long time. Edith didn't reveal himself to be an Eddie until he was almost four months old! lol

Watch for chicks who are developing thicker legs or a more pronounced comb and wattle than their peers. These may be roosters.

When will I be able if my Chicks are Male or Female
depends on the breed and comb type..some breeds where the males are a different color may show about 4 weeks or at least give you an idea who to watch ,. by 6 to 8 weeks when combs are really coming in you can tell fairly well usually those with the reddest combs at this age are roo's but it not 100% but basically or like my OEGB who tried to crow...silkies well it is a lot harder some you have to wait until you see an egg or hear a crow...

Yeah, one of my OEGB (still not 100% certain on breed) was obviously a cockerel at just a couple weeks old, due to comb size and color. The others haven't developed much, though some are starting to do so, so I may have more cockerels. I hope not...

Hatched in Feb. by Cackle
out of the 24 bantam i have....5 unknown EE, 5 hens buff brahma no red anywhere not even a little and hen feathering and color, 3 barred cochin roo's 1 hen, 2 each partridge cochin, 5 unknown black silkies...one noisy OEGB bantam who was marked a barred cochin but no Noisy little roo that crows at me when he gets excited...(or his version)
LF 9 SLW pullets, 4 Roos some of both are destined for freezer camp just keeping the best feathered for breeding.
LF white rocks 3 roos, 2 hens..2 roo's again freezer bound
7 EE pullets 1 is cross beaked so freezer destined as well if she grows big enough...
Meaties due to be butchered any week..nasty mean things
2 swedish ducklings
4 unknown bantams (hoping I got a buff brahma roo) days old
6 LF grown Dorkings
Hatching
7 duck eggs due to hatch wends, 2 dorking eggs due monday..
And 38 various others turkey,duck,Maran... for Hatch along...note all of these but the dorkings are shipped eggs so only expect 30-50% to hatch worse on turkeys 25%-50% of poults die after hatching (sad but true).

Do you have better pics of combs? My SLW is a little older and doesn't have such a noticeable comb as yours seems to have, so you're probably right on that one being male. I'm not really seeing male on the Sebright, though.

Anira here are some more pics of the two

Yeah, they both seem to have some decent comb development going on. Though the Sebright doesn't seem to be very pink-faced yet. I would say they're probably both male.

My own Sebright has a single comb. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't get any more males in my batch of 4-5 week olds, as I already have one.

Three chicks have hatched so far, and the latest two are really starting to dry out. The latest looks like a barred rock/Polish crested mix, which should be fun to photograph!
