Baby Chick Pictures!!!!! POST!

We have a separate flock of Hamburgs too, down to 10 of them because of a bobcat who won't go away. We don't even let them free range right now because of it. :-(

The dark Cornish aren't meat birds, we haven't worked up the courage to buy birds for meat yet. Lol!

We just love chickens and want to have a variety.
sorry to hear of your loss.. I just lost some too with a bobcat... We trapped it like a week ago ... We used a dead chicken as bait...

We have lots of predators out here, but this bobcat comes right on our property in the middle of the day, we just mowed all of our tall grass because I'm pretty sure it was being used as cover. We are going to get a live trap to try and catch him (or her).

Every time we set out live traps we catch something!

Yes, and we're not always prepared to deal with what we catch. My father in law was trying to catch rabbits who were eating his garden. He ended up catching a skunk. It took him a while to figure out what to do without getting spayed. In the end, he was lucky he didn't.

Hahaha that happened last week! My bf went into the shop and welded himself a doohickey to unset the trap enough to slide a can under it to prop it open and let it figure it's own way out.

So now I just got 150 feet of 1/2" galvanized hardware cloth fencing and we'll be busy all weekend building predator proof runs before winter hits and my chickens look too irresistible to some raccoon.

We are going to have to stay away from Orscheln since they are getting Cornish X soon. My holds 6 sized coop is already about to bust at the seams. I'm afraid if my kiddo sees chicks we'll come home with more. Then I may be divorced. Lol

A divorce, and an edition to your coop!!!!!!!
