the mom & dad with babies so cute.. I can't wait for ne of my girls to go broody... I have been leaving the eggs for them to see if they will..

these guys hatched this morning and are in a holding pen till they dry off and can be put in with other chicks. their pen has heat lamp and hand warming pad under blanket. This batch hatched 3 days late because momma hen was taking too long of lunch breaks and I had to bring them in and put them in incubator to finish hatching. They are Blue isbar pures and the dark one is Blue isbar/legbar. waiting on one more egg.

My males the came as packers are the black and white and I have rhode island red females.

Gosling (not chick, sorry) first chicks of the year!

Octomom's batch of 14 chicks. Two eggs hatched after I took the pic and then I gave the remaining eggs to Moonshine!

(This is moonshine, her eggs started to hatch today)

AVH and her chicks!

Goldie's batch! All her eggs hatched and she has now got 11 chicks!

These broilers (we have 109) are going to be slaughtered in 8 weeks! But that doesn't mean that they aren't cute!

My girls had their 1 week birthday today! The marans are growing much faster than my easter eggers.

Ahhh!!! We couldn't resist. We picked up two babehs today - a blue cochin and a buff cochin. We weren't even sold on the buff, over other colors, but she was so incredibly sweet and curious and came hopping right over to sit in our hands. Her personality won us over! Tomorrow I will take the time to photograph them with my real camera gear - can't wait! They're fabulous little peepers. I'm very excited about their Flashdance-esque chicken leg warmers! (Let's face it, their fluffy legs are a selling point.) Their tiny legs are already feathery and absurd!

We currently have three strong laying birds, so these two are definitely joining the flock later as "vanity birds" - as in we got them 100% for their appearance and charm and to keep as pets. Any eggs will be a bonus, of course. But basically I've learned we've turned into chicken addicts and love all the different breeds and personalities and appearances!
